When paths are
crossed-lives are changed! Let us help you cross paths with
another culture. Join Thailand Service Corps (TSC) today for
a rewarding, memorable and enjoyable life experience.
Live,
work and serve Thai people as a Thailand Service Corps team
member volunteer participant. As a TSC Team member you will
live with a Thai host and join the staff of a local college,
vocational school, primary school, secondary school or
orphanage. Your host will provide transport to and from the
educational facility for you each day. You will be immersed
in the mores of the local culture by participating in daily
activities with your host and your project mentor or
counterpart.
Each TSC team member will be assigned an English speaking
mentor or counterpart at the educational facility. Your
mentor or counterpart will provide the orientation and
language ability necessary for you to be of service to the
community. The rapport you establish with the staff at the
local college, school or orphanage will provide lasting
friendships and memories.
TSC works through the Ministry of Education in Kanchanaburi.
In that capacity we provide team members to more that eleven
schools one college and one orphanage. Each volunteer
participant will be assigned to an area of instruction
consistent with their technical/academic abilities and
desires.
TSC Team Members may choose to teach at:

Colleges
English is
part of the curriculum in all public schools in Thailand.
Thai students begin studying English in first grade. Most
Thai students have poor speaking skills, since they are
taught by a native Thai speaker. Most students have never
spoken with a native English speaker. TSC will provide you
with a handbook containing lesson plans, games, and songs.
The Thai school staff will offer assistance and guidance. As
a teacher you will have the privileged opportunity to work
with a Thai educational institution. You will be given the
opportunity to lead classes in conversational English;
teaching vocabulary, reading, pronunciation, comprehension,
grammar, speaking and listening.
HIV/AIDS EDUCATION
If you can reach or change the thinking of just one student
–then you have excelled. TSC team members may teach at
primary schools, secondary schools, orphanages, schools for
the hearing impaired, vocational schools, and colleges.
Help us help empower students and teachers with knowledge of
HIV/AIDS through classroom education or lecture. We ask our
participants, to give HIV/AIDS presentations to classes at
schools, English camps, scout outings, evening meetings or
weekend gatherings. We provide you with lesson plans for the
presentation. The remainder of the time our participants
teach English, in a Thai classroom, along side a Thai
teacher at a local school, orphanage or college. TSC team
members lead classes in conversational English. We emphasize
vocabulary, pronunciation, comprehension, grammar, speaking,
reading, and listening. We augment this by adding the fun of
games and songs to our teaching. Usually, you will teach in
the classroom with your host or counter part. They will help
you prepare for the task of teaching and assist in
translation, if necessary. In addition to the HIV/AIDS and
English teaching we ask you to teach other subjects of which
you may be knowledgeable. Team TSC members may teach other
subject such as computers, geography, environment, or math.
(TSC Education team members spend the five week days at the
assigned project school.) |
