Part of the TSC focus on cultural awareness and experience comes from living
with a Thai host. Our hosts are all professionals, many are teachers, some are
nurses, and a few are doctors who have time to be a host. The hosts are a
representation of the Thai society –married, married with children, single, or
divorced - very similar to the spectrum of Western society.
Living with a Thai host allows participants to gain a first hand insight into
life as a
Thai. Many
participants have the unique opportunity to attend weddings, new house warming’s
and funerals with their Thai hosts. Participants with culinary aspirations have
the opportunity to learn Thai cooking but –everyone starts at the washing and
cutting of vegetables, before they graduate to the cooking level.

A typical Thai house.

Participant comments:
"I
could not have had a more enriching experience; I only wish that my stay would
have been much longer. My host family was just wonderful and made me feel
quite at home and amazingly comfortable. It was great that I could joke
around with then and totally be myself. Thank god for their sense of
humor! We got along really well and I will miss them terrible."
